Review for Elliott Advocacy, Spokane, WA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

We are senior citizens, who paid American Airlines for two first class round trip tickets to Santiago, Chile, departing Chicago, January 2nd and  returning January 15th, 2023. On Jan 2nd we checked into Chicago Ohare with two pieces of luggage.
AA missed its Miami connecting flight to Santiago.
AA could not get us on their next two flights so the AA agent chose to put us on the next Latam Airlines, in 24 hours.
It was now 12 midnight, we had to find a hotel, a driver and come back to the Miami Airport in 20 hours for our flight. AA never gave us our luggage in Miami, they kept our luggage.
On Wednesday January 4th, 6am, we arrived in Santiago, Chile. Only one bag was on the Latam baggage claim belt,
we filed a claim with Latam at the airport. Latam informed us the next day, there was no record of our second bag, they only received one bag from AA.

On January 5th, we contacted American Airlines Travel Service Agency in Santiago, Chile. They took our information, but since we filed a claim with Latam, there was nothing they could do until 5 days after it was reported missing. The AA agents computer informed her that my bag was still in Miami, but was
unable to get confirmation when they would send it to Santiago.
I realized I had to find undergarments, clothing and shoes for this summer vacation and for our hiking in the Andes Mountains and figure out how to get my prescription medication.
My 12 day vacation was officially ruined.
On Wednesday January 11th, nine days after we checked our luggage into AA Chicago, an AA Baggage employee in Argentina called my husband and asked if we were missing a bag, because she found it on the AA luggage belt in Argentina. Since we were leaving Chile in 3 days, he instructed her to send our bag home.
Both Airlines denied responsibility and both made us feel that we were at fault.
We originally held AA responsible for this ruined vacation, they should have reached out to the Spanish speaking Latam Airlines, and worked with them on our behalf. On February 10th I reached out to Elliott Advocacy because both airlines refused to reimburse us for the clothing and personal items we needed to buy.
Elliott informed us that In accordance with international convention, the operating carrier that ultimately flies you to your destination is responsible lost baggage claims, which in my case was LATAM. On February 14th Elliot Advocacy wrote Latam and 15 days LATAM transfered money to my bank.
