Review for CHILD LIFE SOCIETY INC, Brooklyn, NY, USA
By providing us with a house in Florida Child Life Society gave me the opportunity to benefit from the healthy air in Key West. The climate near the ocean helped me expand my lungs.
The house was clean and included linen. The pool in the yard topped it off. My lungs feel less congested and it is easier for me to breathe after a swim. Thank you Rabbi Wokenfeld and Child Life Society. To have a pool in house and the opportunity to swim every day gave my lungs a much needed boost.

Review for CHILD LIFE SOCIETY INC, Brooklyn, NY, USA
As a mother living with cystic fibrosis here's what I can tell you about our stay in Rabbi Wokenfeld's apartment in Key West.
Instead of wheezing through life - as I usually do ,dragging my lungs along for the ride, because I don't have time to sit down and indulge the coughing fit I need to clear my lungs , I sat at the pool coughing to my heart's content.
( Later I learnt that Child Life Societie's pool is specially designed with high salt content which is excellent for cf lungs.) As a result my airways felt lighter, airer, and more at ease than I can ever remember.
Instead of feeling so physically stuck, because I just can't bring up the mucus from deep inside my lungs, my coughs were easily productive. After a few days spent in K.W my mucus thinned.
People who don't have a lung condition might find it hard to understand. So big deal, they might think. What difference does it make if your mucus is thick or thin, your cough productive or not, I see you're functioning just like everyone else. But.. Do you remember the last time you had a mild case of the flu? Or pneumonia? That's what cf'ers feel like more or less every day for part of the day at least.
Our stay in Key West in Rabbi Wokenfeld's house was so nice. With linens, cutlery etc. provided for us, I had the time and head space to focus on my health in a way I never could at home.
Individuals with cf who have spent a significant amount of time in Key West ,have reported increased lung function after their stay. ( Lung function is measured via a clinical test administered by a Dr.) I'm scedualed to see my pulmonologist in 2 weeks, and I hope that my lung function too has improved.
Thank you Child Life Society for providing us with a beautifully appointed house in Key West to stay in free of charge.
