I’ve been a cat caregiving volunteer for 9 months now and I am so impressed with the vet staff and the board members who make this kind of life possible for cats who need a lot of extra love. The rescue is always immaculate - a hard thing to accomplish in a home with 80 cats! They have special house cleaning protocols on Saturdays, ear cleaning Friday's, and clearly marked schedules for everything the cats need, taking into account their special needs.

When I tell you these cats live in the lap of luxury, I’m not exaggerating! Catios off of every room, couches, beds, blankets everywhere for leisurely lounging. The rescue is stocked with clean towels, bedding, and mop heads to promote cleanliness. Some of us live worse than these cats! 😂

And the there’s their work. I’ve seen them bring kittens who were found in dire circumstances back to life. They built a special table for a paralyzed cat to eat at. They nurture cats with diabetes and rare skin conditions. These cats are not only cared for, they’re socialized, loved, and happy as could be.

What Shadow Cats does for the overlooked cats of central Texas is a true mitzvah. And they do it in the best way possible!
