Review for Advocates for Abused and Abandoned Pets, Dumfries, VA, USA
First and foremost Maria is amazing. She is strong but not overbearing, passionate, knowledgeable and concerned. If you decide to adopt from the Humane Society of Northern Virginia, you will leave there with the confidence and knowledge you need for raising your new little family member.
I have grown up with cats (though I haven't had any in a while), and knew some of the challenges I would face once I adopted and I brought them to their new home. With Maria's guidance, I prepped the home with scratching posts, a tree, cat boxes etc. and the transition was so smooth (though I know not everyone will experience this). My little guys, immediately recognized all of their toys, the cat boxes and places to play and scratch on.
I attribute this to the Humane Society of Northern Virgina and the space they have created for the cats. When you walk in, it literally is a space that has cats just running and playing about. Scratch posts, toys, litter boxes and trees for them to play on, scattered everywhere. You really get to sit down and just surround yourself with these little guys and watch them, their temperament, body language and personality. Initially I saw pictures of their cats online and had a couple picked out before I arrived. I left with two completely different little guys, that fit me, my kids, our personalities and homelife. Their set up allows for you to find and perfectly pair with your new family member. I highly recommend the Humane Society of Northern Virginia and plan on coming back to maybe bringing home another little guy. I would not go anywhere else.
Thanks Maria!
