Review for Stillborn And Infant Loss Support-SAILS , Laurel, MD, USA
Part of what makes nonprofits successful is an openness to examine the organization and the agility to change course when necessary. Stillborn and Infant Loss Support (SAILS) is a coordinated effort of exceptional leadership in the founder and executive director Sadija Smiley and her working board of directors that is tirelessly dedicated to providing their community with stellar care. I selected SAILS as my 2022 fourth-quarter recipient of The Sunflower Project, a quarterly strategic planning and marketing program offering 60 hours of pro bono consulting and in-the-weeds execution to a nonprofit. What we accomplished in that quarter leveled up the organization. From redefining the mission, vision, and key messages to the board’s operational objectives, the organization is set up for success with attainable and measurable objectives. With a new brand and complete website redesign, SAILS more clearly addresses its expanded markets with an expanded service offering and partnerships, only equaling better care. With these plans and tools in place, I can’t wait to see their expansion over the next 12 to 15 months. It was a pleasure to work with them, and I cannot wait to see them soar!
