Review for Diamonds In The Ruff Canine Rescue, Goldsboro, NC, USA
Six years ago we were fortunate enough to meet these AMAZING ladies that volunteer their time to save animals. We have since adopted three dogs from this organization and they continue to exceed all expectations of what a rescue organization can be.
Our first adoption was Apollo, they found his mom very pregnant and the father behind an abandoned building. A hurricane was coming towards the area and they rallied the troops and were able to rescue not only the mother but the father. We cannot imagine what the life of our little Apollo might have been if he had born outside the rescue, I doubt he and his siblings would have survived. Diamonds in the Ruff found homes for all the puppies and both parents.
Five years later, we adopted Romeo he came from a hoarding situation and the ladies worked tirelessly to not only find loving homes for the puppies, but work with the owner to fix the other dogs in their possession, paid for by the rescue. This effort took well over a year but they never gave up! We were fortunate enough to adopt dog number three just over a year ago, another product of a hoarding situation.
Diamonds in the Ruff invests considerable time in saving animals, including weekend meet and greets, home visits to ensure the perspective adopters have a sturdy fence and a safe environment for their new family members. They also reach out to veterinarians to ensure the adopter has an honorable track record and provide heart-worm medications to any former or existing pets. They go the extra mile to ensure adopters are screened.
When we adopted Apollo, we had two other dogs and they requested we bring our son and the two other dogs to meet him before the adoption was final. Most rescues would not perform this level of due diligence.
Previous to meeting the ladies at Diamonds in the Ruff we donated to multiple animal charities, but after watching the amazing things these angels accomplish, we direct all our funds towards their organization. If you are considering donating, I cannot recommend them more.
