Review for Gig Harbor Peninsula Historical Society, Gig Harbor, WA, USA
As both a Donor and volunteer Docent, I have had the opportunity to see the looks of amazement on the faces of our visitors. With many of these visitors, it is the learning of how diverse our community is in its history. With older residents both present and former, to see the tears in their eyes as they point our a family member, a picture of their original home or farm or business. They open up to talk of their experiences as a child: a 1920 family store and the adventures of rowing to Tacoma to gather supplies; their first time fishing and all the various captains they served with before eventually getting their own boat(s); tales of seeing Galloping Gerties as it starts to temble before collapse. All these stories are generated by the artifacts and exhibits mounted in the museum's new location. The former spaces occupied by the museum since its founding never allowed for the proper display of all the wonderful gifts given us by various families and their members to remember personal histories. How very fortunate we are to have the gifts of all the donors: financially and the personal histories.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
I have watched the museum grow since arriving in Gig Harbor in 1977. What remarkable growth.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
I would ask that more people support the museum in whatever manner possible. What a great place to spend an afternoon, learning history visually rather than relying solely on a book.
