My name is Katie Mickelson and I was a recipient of the Blue and White Scholarship back in 2001. When I was accepted to Villanova, my parents were beyond proud. My sister and I were the first in our family to go to college and we knew we had big shoes to fill. Receiving this scholarship from one of the best organizations at Villanova changed my life. I no longer had to worry about how I was going to afford my education and could focus on what I went there to do! I came from pretty humble beginnings and felt so blessed to be a part of the Villanova Community. It was truly a dream come true. I graduated in 2004, majoring in Elementary Education.
Fast forward twenty years, I am a stay-at-home mom of three beautiful children and a former elementary school 5th grade teacher. My prayer is that my children hold fast to the saying, "we are blessed to bless others." Being a B & W Scholar has instilled that in me and I thank the entire organization for all they did for me.
