I adopted a 12 week old Lab puppy on 10.2.22. I respect that this organization is 100% volunteer run and things will not go perfectly. This first half of the experience could have gone smoother. I filled out my online application and paid my application fee and was not contacted by a volunteer for 18 days despite me several times reaching out to the organization and being told someone would be contacting me. So that was frustrating. Once contacted, it felt like my sponsor found a reason why every dog I was interested in was not a good fit. This despite never meeting me or my wife in person. I appreciate them being picky to make sure dogs are not returned, but it seemed like she was focused on her perception of things that were not good fits rather than things that were good fits. I never did hear from any of the fosters of the dogs that I was interested in.

Luckily, a volunteer who was fostering a litter of 6 puppies reached out to me. Puppies were not on our radar because we had never had one. I went to the volunteers house and spent an hour plus with her and the puppies to learn about them and about being a puppy parent. I came away convinced our family was a good match. I brought my wife the next day to meet them and the following day the foster volunteer chose us to adopt one of the puppies. Ever since the adoption the foster volunteer has quickly and in detail responded to any questions I have about raising a puppy via text an email. It has given us so much confidence to have this support. I am not sure what we would have done without that support the first 2 weeks.

One month later, we are so happy with our new dog and love her so much. She has been a great match for our family and I cannot imagine our lives without her. The foster focused on doing her best to match each puppies personality with each adopting family by taking the time to get to know our family (and I assume the others) and I must say, I think she found the perfect match for us.

I would give the process before meeting the puppies 2 stars and the process once we met the puppies 5 stars. The outcome has been fantastic, it was just a little frustrating to get to that point.
