EDRC has not only helped me, they have helped my family tremendously. As someone who is in recovery for Eating Disorders (ED), it was very difficult on both my family and I in the beginning partly because they had no idea how to best support me…and neither did I to be honest. Constantly feeling like I had to explain myself and like my parents didn’t understand/where actually causing more harm was starting to put a larger strain on our relationship. Because of EDRC, my parents were able to find both resources and support for THEM in their journey of processing what was going on with me. Finally, I was able to focus on my own recovery and they were able to focus on theirs as well. The parent support group was the greatest help to them as they were able to connect with other parents of those with ED. Now, 9 years later, my parents and I have a wonderful relationship, I have maintained continuous recovery, and I can honestly say EDRC had a huge part of it all.
