I've been a United Way volunteer since 1991 at 3 different locations - South Hampton Roads (Norfolk, VA), Cumberland County (Raleigh, NC), and here in Jackson County (Medford, OR) - including their Combined Federal Campaigns. The staff and volunteers here at UWJC don't just raise money for their partner charitable organizations, they raise the entire community thru their focus on education, health, transportation and family stability. Here in Jackson County we are truly United in Purpose!

I am a retired US Navy officer and since just before retirement I've been active in three United Ways (or CFCs run by the local United Way). On moving to Oregon 21 years ago I volunteered with the United Way of Jackson County (UWJC) and have been proud of every minute of those 21 years. The UWJC is more than the average United way that just runs a business and mail campaign to support local affiliated charities. The UWJC has stepped up in providing needed services brought on by COVID and a fire that burned up the housing of about 2,500 families. My contributions to the UWJC have given me and my community tremendous bang for the buck and I will continue to donate my time, treasure and talent.
