HART is an outstanding non- profit that helps not only retired Thoroughbred racehorses and other equines in need, but it also is a place of peace, hope and encouragement for many families. For me personally, HART is my happy place, a place where I go to help animals in need and to help kids that maybe don't have the best time at home or school but can come there and learn that they have strength and courage inside them and that HART is an accepting, caring place where they can grow and develop along with the beautiful horses. HART provides a much needed service for the Thoroughbred race industry as many of these equine athletes get injured while racing and then are discarded, but are still young and have there while loves ahead of them. HART gives them a place to heal, learn to love and trust, and get thought to be a different kind of athlete allowing them to find forever homes. This type of care takes a lot of people and time and HART is incredible in it's capacity to be able to provide the structure to make such an effective program. I am grateful to be a part of HART!
