I was introduced to Beyond Basics over 15 years ago through my previous role leading Corporate Social Responsibility efforts at a global corporation. The company I worked for funded Beyond Basics literacy and enrichment activities at a Detroit public elementary school for more than a decade. As a donor and volunteer, it was absolutely wonderful to experience the joy that Beyond Basics programming brings to students everyday. Now, years later, the Beyond Basics program offers a proven solution to bringing students up to grade-level in reading. The daily, high-intensity tutoring- delivered with that same joy that existed in Beyond Basics from its inception - is helping to pave the path to new possibilities for thousands of students. I believe so strongly in this mission to end illiteracy and the method that Beyond Basics delivers that I left my corporate role to join the organization full-time. I am so proud to be a member of the Beyond Basics family.
