Hey there, My name Is Ricky I am from Scotland and i had the pleasure of working with AHAH for a month in July this year in Laplace Louisiana. I had never done work like this before and at first i questioned my choice to go to strange place with strangers and help in any small way possible, however after minutes of Meeting Garrett at the doors of the base i was put at ease, very welcoming made me feel relaxed and then spending the day getting to know other volunteers was like catching up with family members it was that strange like we all knew each other for ever. All the staff there from the 2 John's , Joseph, Ashtyn, Matt, Rob, Garrett, Cassey, everyone was amazing and the volunteers all clicked well.

The work we did was amazing as well being able to do the work we did that would allow the house owners to move back in to the home they love is the most rewarding work i have ever done in my life, doing what we did is something that has impacted me in ways i never knew it would, i never wanted to come back home i enjoyed it that much. I look forward to volunteering on many more project in the future no doubt.

Not only is the work we do very important but the friendships you make along the way are some that will last a lifetime, the fun we would all have on our time off was some of the best memories i will never forget, simple things like kickball out side the base, or spike ball, or even the Night activities arranged by Garrett from movie night with a TWIST haha or ART night the little things bringing us together for a little laughter needed at the point of the week.

I would say to anyone reading this review or others, take the step you are already thinking about helping sign up and i promise you there will be no regrets in the future by given a little to a stranger that will mean the world to them, to see the smile on a house owners face when they see a nightmare be turned in to a dream is a picture i will never be tired of shedding a tear to.

P.S always make friends with the person COOKING haha we had they amazing MICHAEL good some amazing meals not always what i liked cause i was fussy but the dinner table was silent on many occasions thanks to him...
