I’ve always admired horses from afar, but had never really had an opportunity to work with them. Then my best friend booked us some
time at Saffyre Sanctuary and I’ve pretty much never left. From my first day it was clear how much the volunteers worked to create a loving and safe environment for all the horses. As we waited for our tour to start I was immediately drawn in by the horse energy and I was hooked. I signed up to be a volunteer and have been fortunate enough to share space with this amazing herd and wonderful people.

As a volunteer we work hard to maintain conditions for happy horses and provide them with the stability and love needed to reclaim their story and come into their own. I have seen horse like Hollie really blossom and despite the bumps and bruises they have encountered prior to arriving at Saffyre, they step into their new chapter ready to live life to the fullest.

To be able to join a horse on their rehabilitation journey has been such an honor. But in many ways they have been part of my own transformative journey as there is so much humanity can learn from horses. I am grateful for the calmness they bring to my own life and the way they inspire me to be a better person.
