Review for College of Adaptive Arts, Saratoga, CA, USA

Rating: 4 stars

My daughter has been a student with College of Adaptive Arts (CAA) for 7 years. In that time, the curriculum has expanded, the facilities have improved, class sizes have increased without compromising personal attention and accommodations for special needs. My daughter has developed friendships with peers and exposure to fields of study she enjoys.

The real gift CAA offers is the chance for parents, caregivers and conservators to establish friendships and share best practices. As our students age, friendships from K-12 dropped away and so do the opportunities to maintain contact with the adults in their lives. Yet, CAA includes families in their curriculum development, feedback about courses and the quality of the teaching staff. This benefit is unique with CAA.

The other benefit CAA provides is the chance for the students to perform in front of peers, families and the community at large. These opportunities range from dance recitals to film festivals, musical concerts to theatrical performances. Students that began at CAA as nearly non-verbal or severely introverted develop confidence because of the core value of appreciating everyones talent and opinion. I witnessed a public speaking event in which a 19 year old student who was non-verbal outside of his home and immediate family, stood in front of 80 people and answered questions about his favorite topic. There were tears in the eyes of many parents because they witnessed the blossoming of this young man through CAA's patience, passion and perseverance.

I strongly recommend supporting College of Adaptive Arts and encouraging families with adult children to explore their curriculum. There is something for everyone at CAA.
