Review for Blackfoot Animal Shelter & Rescue, Blackfoot, ID, USA
This organization has worked their way from a High-Kill to No-Kill (except for illness, court decree, etc). They travel to nearby cities for pet adoption days with a vanload of adoptable pets. This year they even setup every day (7 days) at the large Eastern Idaho State Fair to provide information and adopt pets.
Blackfoot Animal Shelter and Rescue also travels and brings back At Risk dogs from California High-Kill shelters once, or more, per year. This fall they accepted a load from Florida shelters after the hurricane.
They work with other shelters in surrounding areas and states to find homes for dogs and cats . . even hamsters, rabbits and chickens.
They treat and rehabilitate injured animals working in tandem with a local veterinarian. They socialize and train dogs in preparation for adoption. They also take any adopted pet back if the home proves unsuitable and work on any problems encountered.
They have even held raccons until Fish and Game can pick them up.
In addition, to all the adoption efforts, they have applied for grants and put in physical hours improving the physical facilities. Everyday, they update their facebook/webpage with found and lost animals and well as those ready for adoption.
All the while, as a City/County entity, they must accept any and ALL animals collected by law enforcement for whatever reason.
A small organization doing the work of a large one, they deserve all the help available.
