Cali was howling in pain when eating. She didn't stop eating but just
screamed in pain trying to put her paws in her mouth when she did.
It was hard to know what to do, Cali is a feral cat.
She and two other ferals (Tuxedo and Bella) were living in our backyard 9 years
ago when we bought our house.
They all had the ear tip so spayed and neutered with at least a rabies vaccine.
No real health problems for all those years taking care of them.
We have heated boxes for them in the winter and while they come into the kitchen
each morning for breakfast they are wild, either born outside never socialized or
abondandoned so long ago they don't remember.
That's the problem getting medical help for a feral cat.
That's where 4Paws1Heart comes in.
No Vet I contacted would look at a wild animal. They kept asking if they could be "handled".
No they can't be handled.
One suggested 4Paws1Heart.
Diana directed me to a Vet (Patterson) who agreed to see her.
And understood she couldn't be touched..
Trapping her proved to be futile as we also have have 4 indoor/outdoor "pet" cats
and the trap kept getting either them (especially Alvin) - or a possum or a racoon.
Their 10 foot rule had gone down to a foot or two through the years so I put on a thick winter coat
and two oven mitts and just grabbed her. It was like grabbing a wolverine.
But I got her in the cage.
They gassed her at the vet and determined she had stomatitis in her mouth so bad she needed her teeth removed.
The cost was really high but 4Paws1Heart negotiated a discount and paid for it and she's
out of pain.
There are some charities that do great work helping pets but very few
that will help the abandoned and thrown away that aren't necessarily cute and cuddly.
4Paws1Heart does this using the all donation money for nothing but good.
Humans sometimes, most times, create their own problems, these animals have done nothing.
