During the summer of 2022 I visited the Dominican Republic with my Mum and Sister to take part in project Esperanza. I had heard of the trips done in the past and this year I asked to get involved with the cause. We volunteered for a week and I will never forget it. It was an amazing experience that opened my eyes to see outside of my community in Switzerland. I was able to practice linguistic, communication, and social skills with almost 40+ kids. They were polite, kind, and you could tell that they were eager to learn. The other volunteers that I worked with showed dedication in the cause and you could see it impacting the children as well, reciprocating the same dedication to learn. The entire experience was beneficial to me and the kids I spent time with and revealed new ways to be of service on a global level. I plan on returning to project Esperanza next year bringing with me my friends who I know would absolutely love the experience as much as I did.
