Review for Project Hawai'i, Inc., Kea'au, HI, USA
i am so blessed i found Project Hawaii. I actually found her handing out hygiene at a park. i asked what she was doing. she said she was looking for the children to make sure they were okay and if they needed anything. Our camp had just been taken down and thrown away when the county workers come with the dump trucks. Our stuff was gone, we were living in our truck. My boyfriend, me and baby. I was telling her i went to school to be a hair dresser and lost my job at covid. I would work anywhere but no one was hiring. I applied everywhere. My boyfriend tries to do what he can to work too, but no one hires homeless people.
I took the hygiene bag and some snacks she had left. She asked if I wanted to work at Target. I told her, I already applied and went to the interview but they hired someone else. She asked again, if she could help me, would i work. Of course I said.
She called the connection she had at Target and sent a text to have us communicate. The very next Monday I was working fulltime at Target. She didn't have to do any of this. She didn't have to care so much, or take her time away to help me but she did. I now work full time at Target and my boyfriend watches the baby. We are still homeless and she still checks on us but we are goingto be okay because Project Hawaii is there for us.
I am glad she asked me to write my story. If this helps anyone understand how much this agency cares, it is worth it. She is a blessing to everyone
