ShathaB
Review for Jerusalem Peacebuilders, Milford, CT, USA
I had the chance of being a part of this year's JPB Summer Institute Program held in Texas. To put it briefly, it is truly a life-altering and transformative experience.
For two weeks, I got to spend almost every waking moment of my day with a group consisting of Israeli and Palestinian teenagers, as well as a diverse team of staff members. This program brought together teens of various religious, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds in an unprecedented and remarkable manner and provided us with a supportive framework. We were able to touch on profound and real-life matters, such as faith, community, culture, and conflict, whether it's the Palestinian-Israeli conflict or other external and internal conflicts in our everyday lives. Furthermore, we got to talk about complex identities and what we identify as, as well as what it means to be a leader and peace-maker. Additionally, we had a bunch of non-educational activities where we got to create robust bonds and ever-lasting memories.
Despite us all being from the same region, I believe that it wouldn't have been possible for us to see face-to-face without JPB’s help. JPB’s Program is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that I am eternally grateful for.
