I answered a call for volunteers at the McCormick County Humane Society. I walk slowly with a walking stick so on Day 1 I walked a rehabbing 60 Lb. Dogo Argentina named Storm. When the walk ended we ended up on a picnic table where he made it clear we were new friends. On Day 2 it was suggested that Storm needed to be socialized, would I mind hanging out with him. He did not need socializing, but hang out we did for three hours. Five weeks later I introduced Storm to my wife (he left no doubt she was his new girl) and a week later he went home with us. We could not be happier about him being part of our family. His new name is Romeo (because he loves the ladies), and it was the incredible volunteers at the McCormick County Humane Society that gave him a second chance at life - he was near death when they swept him up and nursed him back to life. He is now the “Mayor” of our street, and living the “good” life. What the volunteers at the humane society do for the neglected and abandoned dogs and cats of our area is incredible. The Love and dedication of the humane society volunteers allows many of these “lost” pets a second chance to find their “forever homes”. We could not be more impressed by the dedication, sacrifice, and love demonstrated by the McCormick County Humane Society volunteers every day. Because of them our Romeo got a second chance. We and he are forever grateful.
