A few years ago we started giving Charity on Top gift cards to our children and grandchildren every Christmas. It’s the best way we’ve found to teach the importance of giving. We used to make a donation to different charities every Christmas in their name, but it means so much more to them when they are involved in picking a charity that means something to them personally. After they redeem their card, they share their choice with the whole family, which is another positive perk as well. It makes giving to a charity much more fun, especially for the younger ones, and hopefully fosters a belief in the importance of giving to others.
