I first discovered CARE through my kid's friends at school. Heidi's who owns and runs the facility, son was a classmate of my daughter. My husband a I are avid animal supporters. We had to visit CARE to see for ourselves. I was leery as I really did not enjoy seeing animals in a zoo environment after I had seen and learned about pacing habits and small cages and poor care. This was NOT what we found at CARE! It was love at first sight, we hit it off instantly with Heidi and Derek. Heidi took us under her wing and taught us so much about the lion cubs they currently had and Andrew basically became their step-dad. Heidi has so much love for these animals, she never gives up on any of them. She will fight for them as long as they have fight left. They are constantly building and planning and expanding, researching stimulating ideas for the animals. If they have to live in captivity, CARE does whatever it takes to make their lives better and have quality, they do not just exist. I have seen CARE take in animals from zoos that are closing or down sizing. These animals did not come without issue, but the CARE team worked with patience and planning doing whatever it took to build confidence and comfort. You honestly would not believe the state of some of the animals at arrival to the animals they become with love and care. Heidi can literally walk through the compound and with her high pitched voice and talk to any of the animals and they will stop what they are doing to come to her and great her with snuffles. I could go on and on. Everyone should watch bigcatderek on you tube - he also exudes love! He is hilarious.

the link above is just one you tube video - The enclosed area you see the 2 grown lions inside is and indoor area with like a giant dog door they can go inside with AC or go outside to the enclosure.

DGC has support youth golf for many schools around the county. They welcome and encourage new and youth golfers of all ages. We appreciate the club working with schools to allow for golf teams to practice throughout the week during the school year.
