Review for The Freedom To Choose Project, Santa Barbara, CA, USA
This project conducts in-prison pesonal-grwoth trainings for inmates. They've been doing this successfully for about 20 years. Surprisingly, volunteers who are not inmates often report earning as much or more than the inmates do. In this way, the surprising wisdom and learning of inmates becomes accessible to people who will never be in prison. Amazing.

For seven months I've volunteered as a Reader of homeworks completed by inmates. The main monthly effort is a live Zoom call where we all work together with our audio muted. Tis way we can ask question get support, etc. No charge.
Volunteer Readers are also welcome to participate in a live Zoom triads using the FTC process. The project emerged from University of Santa Monica (USM) so the quality is quite high, both heartfelt and very professional.
Volunteers can also attend live prison trainings as participating assistants. All these ways are popular. The program is expanding.
Not easy to generalize about the inmates we serve. Each case is extremely individual. Each month voluntary testimonials from inmates about the comments made by Readers are shared. If you want to be of service, learn something and don't wish to drive, this is a good, social opportunity.
