We are empty nesters and wasnt looking for a dog. I just went to Petsmart to love on an animal because I just moved to Texas and missed my kids and friends from VA. I started asking about longest animal in the rescue and was told about a deaf 3 year old blue heeler. It broke my heart. My husband called and asked what I was doing and I told him. He said no more dogs and then I told him Pearls story. The rest is history we adopt Pearl and we are teaching her sign language. She is lovable and wants a lot of attention. Everyone we meet want her and they think she is our service dog because she is so calm.
