Review for HopeKids, Scottsdale, AZ, USA

Rating: 5 stars

We joined HopeKids when my son was diagnosed with leukemia in 2021. Ryan already had more challenges than most kids. At 8 he was diagnosed with Louis Barre Syndrome which meant he would be wheelchair bound. This he mastered, and a smile was still a fixture on his beautiful face, but leukemia presented bigger challenges. The side effects from chemo, nose bleeds and a weakened immune system were now an added challenge. We decided that HopeKids shared our values and made it possible for our family to still do fun things together. In fact they would provide the venue for various fun family activities and all we had to do was show up. When you have a sick child life is hard. Time is taken away from your other children and all you want to do as a parent is grab any moment you can to find happiness together as a family because you don’t know how long your sick child has. This is why we want to thank HopeKids. They make it possible for families to do fun things TOGETHER. We went to a MN Wild game together, several movies and a winter lights event at the Fairgrounds where we took our family Christmas card picture. All at no cost to us and those memories are priceless. My son recently passed away and I am so grateful to have had those experiences. When I told HopeKids that my Ryan passed away they wrote me back and told me how sorry they were and also told me that once a HopeKid family Always a HopeKids family. We could continue to attend events and maybe we will. In honor of Ryan because we will always be a family of 5. Sue Costley (mom of Ryan, Connor and Kasey)
