The World War II Legacy Foundation is easily the most important nonprofit keeping the legacy and memories of World War II alive in Connecticut. In addition to a traveling museum that visits schools and fairs, events such annual commemorations of the battle of Iwo Jima, motorcycle rides attended by many veterans, and working to bring a Gold Star Families monument to the state, the foundation goes out of its way to make the aging veterans of World War II, Korea and Vietnam feel honored. As an oral historian who has worked with the foundation on some events, I highly recommend the work that they do.
