OURF is an AWESOME organization! I have known Dr. Gary Shapiro for several years. He has endlessly and consistently advocated for the well-being and conservation of orangutans and their rainforest habitat. He goes beyond normal efforts to discover the factual issues with which the orangutans in Indonesia face. He continues to make visits to the areas that need the most help to find out what is needed, who to talk with, and how to best help not only the orangutans but the local people who are also trying to help the orangutans. He has established several programs to promote conservation measures for the local area, to help educate future leaders in the conservation area and to provide resources to help the local people help themselves and therefore help the orangutans. Dr. Shapiro's ethics and integrity are topnotch and beyond reproach. His ability to relate to and speak with Indonesians in their native language and on their land to assist them with the challenges of mitigating threats to the orangutan's survival is unrivaled by any other conservation organization. Donating your time and/or money to this organization is a guarantee that your resources will be used to benefit this very worthy cause. OURF is very conscientious and transparent in their business practices, their needs for carrying out their mission, and the method by which they operate the organization. Dr. Shapiro's long-term commitment to the plight of orangutans has been a proven and effective tool in addressing some incredibly challenging conservation measures. I highly recommend others take the time to get involved with this organization to find out how you may fit into helping to make a difference. It continues to be an honor to volunteer with OURF.
