I came from a different animal rescue organization where the best way to describe it was cold and unwelcoming. Animal Welfare Friends is about as far from that as you can get! The first time I walked in, the staff and volunteers talked to me like I was an old friend, sharing silly animal stories and telling me about all the wonderful animals they had. They treat their animals as their own, celebrating in their successful placements and finding heartbreak in the not so successful ones. Overall, I’ve been amazed by their positive impact on every person and animal that I’ve seen come through their doors (including myself) and I am so thankful they are right here close in Monticello, Iowa.
