The lifetime care and love that they give to the animals heartwarming! There are very, very few rescues that will take over the care of your beloved farm animals when you can no longer do it, without the fear of slaughter. Rikki's Refuge will give them great care and lots of love, just like you'd want!

The animals at this sanctuary feel so loved that you can see it in their eyes! None of the sadness like you see at shelters. They help those who are sick or abused, as well as those who were simply no longer wanted by their previous families. Sometimes the families were simply no longer able to care for their beloved animals and wanted a safe place for them to live out the rest of their lives. And that place is Rikki's. I've adopted dogs and cats from them.

Rikki's Refuge is the most peaceful place on earth! With over 1200 animals, many of whom are "differently-abled", the animals get marvelous care, and lots and lots of love. Duke, the spokesdog (pictured here) was born without eyes. In a shelter situation, he would have been euthanized. But, at Rikki's, he's living a wonderful life! Boomer, an aussie mix, has made himself Duke's guide dog! And Duke goes to schools and events to teach people how to be kind to others who are different -- they are all the same on the inside. Rikki's teaches care and humanity and love to humans, as well as animals.

The care that is given to the animals at Rikki's Refuge is incredible! All of the staff and volunteers truly love the animals. And the animals are happy, too! The people are the most hard-working people that I've ever met. They certainly care for all of the needs of the animals.

This animal sanctuary takes animals that most other rescues would euthanize. They take the elderly, and they take the sick. That have the love and patience and knowledge that it takes to heal the animals. The animals are treated as they should be -- as one of God's beautiful creatures.

I wish that there were no more unwanted or abused animals in the world so that Rikki's (and every other animal rescue and shelter) would not be needed.
