As a chapter advisor starting my sixth year with Veterans Heritage Project, I cannot say enough about the value of this program. Students get to interact with the men and women who have sacrificed so much for our country, hear their stories and build relationships with them. Students also develop leadership tools, learn about commitment and complete volunteer service for veteran groups. Most importantly, it allows our veterans to have a voice to share stories many of them have never shared before and to have those stories preserved. As I tell my students every year- Every veteran has a story, every veteran's story is important and every veteran's story deserves and needs to be told. As for me- it feeds my soul.
