This year I had the chance to visit MindLeaps in Mauritania, and I was blown away by the way MindLeaps' dance trainers serve as holistic mentors and teachers of children, not just in dance but also in tutoring and language courses, providing sexual and reproductive health classes, and maintaining good relations with partner organizations and parents. It all begins with and flows through the dance, but the children take the inspiration from the dance floor and translate it into academic and social success. I was so thrilled to see it in action firsthand!
