Not only does WMI provide amazing opportunities for women in East Africa through their microfinance initiatives, but they also support other grassroots initiatives that build financial independence in women and girls. As such, WMI has been providing funding for Rukundo International's Girl's Empowerment Program for the last seven years. Because of their support, more than 1,500 adolescent girls in Uganda have learned basic financial literacy, life skills, and how to avoid HIV, STD's and early marriage. Robyn Nietert, the Founder, and the other Board members are incredible to work with and truly have a passion for changing lives. We have continually been amazed at the repayment rate on the micro loans, the training that they provide to the women, and the sustainability of the project.
