We've seen the work of the Canal Alliance up close here in wealthy Marin County, where the wealth and health disparities are jarring. The Canal Alliance has a super-competent team of professionals and volunteers who tackle the significant issues in employment, legal status, education, language, nutrition, and health and wellness that face the mostly Latinex community in highly segregated San Rafael.

I've seen their ESL classes and their food pantry in person. I've heard their lawyers explain how they protect immigrants from exploitation and family separation. During the worst of the pandemic, we watched them overcome fear and misinformation to achieve higher immunization in the Canal than in any other Marin community, a stunning accomplishment. We have supported them for years, and we feel every dollar is well spent.
