I am fairly new to Support Connection. I started Volunteering about 2 years ago and was overwhelmed with the dedication of the staff to their mission. When I read that they were looking for more Board members I jumped at the opportunity to apply. I am very grateful that I was asked to join their Board.
Being a survivor of both Breast and Ovarian cancer, at the time of my diagnosis I was not aware of the services provided by the peer counselors at the Support Connection. I felt both alone and unable to talk about my diagnosis with my peers. I feel I missed a valuable opportunity. The value of the services of the peer counselors is immeasurable.
