Review for Mercy & Sharing, Aspen, CO, USA

Rating: 5 stars

HaitiChildren, formerly known as Mercy & Sharing, has been providing care, food, and education to abandoned, orphaned, and disabled children in Haiti for almost 30 years. This nonprofit uses a two-pronged approach by providing for children today while working to help each child, widow, and other individual to become independent tomorrow.

Although CEO Susie Krabacher receives no salary for her work, she spends more than 50 hours each week advocating for the care and education of more than 2,000 people every day. HaitiChildren has raised more than $40 million, all of which has gone to Haiti’s most vulnerable. The organization built 100,000 square feet of infrastructure right after the most devastating hurricane that Haiti had ever seen, created an education system for the orphans, and developed a sustainable farming model.

HaitiChildren has more than 1,100 students enrolled in three schools as well as vocational training programs. The organization also cares around the clock for more than 120 orphans, many of whom are disabled. The children receive full medical care (including physical therapy and surgery), food, clothing, education, shelter, and loving care.
