Review for The Oral Cancer Foundation, Santa Fe, NM, USA
The Oral Cancer Foundation has curated the most comprehensive websites for people who have been diagnosed with oral and oropharyngeal cancer. There is a support group with more than 13,000 people
OCF funds medical research to aid the development of methods for early discovery and disease understanding to help end late-stage diagnosis which has poor health outcomes. There are so many amazing resources for patients and their friends and family to help them with their journey. OCF promotes advocacy, research, information, support, and hope. Their support for the many walks and oral cancer screenings across the United States is unprecedented.
Review for The Oral Cancer Foundation, Santa Fe, NM, USA
The Oral Cancer Foundation is an invaluable resource for anyone going through oral cancer treatements and after treatment has finished. The research and education that the foundation does is helping to transform the trajectory of oral cancer and the walk and screening events have raised awareness of the importance of regular oral cancer screenings for all people in order to end late stage diagnosis. The work that is done with the foundation has helped many people and continues to do so.
Review for The Oral Cancer Foundation, Santa Fe, NM, USA
The Oral Cancer Foundation has made it their mission to prevent late stage diagnosis of oral cancers and to save lives as well as help people have the best quality of life. They do this so well by encouraging people to do monthly home screenings with checkyourmouth.org and to make sure that their dental providers are screening at least annually. They also do this by supporting awareness through events such as walks and screenings around the United States. These events also raise funds to provide ongoing research and to support patients who have or are going through cancer treatments as well as education. As a dental hygienist organizing an upcoming event, the Oral Cancer Foundation and Brian, Ingrid, and Chester have been so supportive answering my many questions. The foundation has so many resources for everyone from patients, to family members, and healthcare providers. When I am at work and doing an oral cancer screening on my patients, I always tell them what I am doing. So many people say they have never had that done before. I of course am shocked and understand that we need to educate and encourage patients to insist on a screening. The Oral Cancer Foundation is the best resource for doing this.
I am so grateful to be working with them on my upcoming walk and screening!
