I've been sponsoring with CI since 1999, with a brief pause during a couple financially strapped college years following a bad car accident. The program has only improved in that time! They use evidence-based programs to lift children out of poverty by encouraging education, job skills, learning financial skills, etc. While the young kids benefit primarily from basic educational supplies, health care & nutritional support (hard to learn when sick or super hungry), the programs for teens have expanded dramatically. They also allow you to do more - if you really want your kids to get a top education, you can fund that! If you want to visit, you have to pay for it, but that's an option as well. I've met most of my kids - they exist, the Centers exist and they've shown me house projects that I funded.

The base sponsorship will do so much to help make a child's life better, they have an American program (if that's what really calls to your heart) & you have the opportunity to do more, if you desire! If you choose to write, the children love getting letters & pictures too! After a period of time sponsoring a child, it's easy to feel like part of the family with CI.
