Homer Congregational Church (Homer, NY) coordinates a Back to School event each August. We provide new sneakers, socks, underwear and hygiene items because we know that kids need more than paper and pencils for school. Operation Warm provided over 300 pairs of quality sneakers for our event that we can distribute to kids/families in need. The colors are fun - my 8-year old daughter approved! Kids need sturdy sneakers to stay active and healthy - to fully participate in physical education classes and have fun at recess. I'm really glad Operation Warm has recognized this need and has expanded their outreach to include sneakers, in addition to coats.
