My journey with Unbound began in 2017 after a presentation at our local parish. I was particularly impressed with the dedication and joy that emanated from the speaker that I waited anxiously throughout the liturgy to find a child to sponsor. I have a dear friend who was born and raised in Delhi and I was determined to honor her by choosing someone from India. When my husband and I got to the display of photos, Kartik stood out as though God had led me to him. He lives in Delhi and has the same birthday as my dad. Although he was 4 years old at the time, his mother faithfully wrote on his behalf with messages filled with thanks and gratitude. I now receive letters from him dictated to an Unbound translator. It has been a joy to see photos of Kartik and his family, to know that he is thriving and happy and being cared for through Unbound.

Several years after my partnership with Kartik, I felt a strong urge to sponsor another child. In searching through the photos/bios of candidates, I was struck by a beautiful little girl from Guatemala who had been waiting for over a year to be sponsored. Through our correspondence, which began in 2019, I have discovered that Cindy's outward beauty shines through in her loving heart as well. Her letters are always filled with optimism and faith and I am humbled by the joy with which she approaches life and the happiness she brings to me.

Today's gospel reading reminds us to share what we have with others. I am ever grateful to the Unbound community for allowing me the opportunity to support these two exceptional children, to be with them as they grow. Surely there can be no better way to share your gifts with those who need and graciously appreciate your efforts.
