I joined the Board of Project Hope because I had heard of the great work they were doing to help with outreach in Africa, and with Covid response in the US. Since joining, I have been humbled and blown away by the scale of the work this organization is doing and has done for decades across the globe that far exceeded my initial understanding.
Project Hope has a model that focuses on sustained impact by training local healthcare workers and supporting local communities so they can recover, grow and thrive long after Project Hope's initial outreach. As a mother of 4, I have a particular passion for helping mothers and children, and Project Hope's programs to support maternal health, infants and children have created significant inroads. Most recently, Project Hope helped women and children who had been displaced by the conflict in Ukraine. The scale of these efforts was and is tremendous- and importantly- goes beyond immediate triage (which is clearly critical) but also to focus on mental health after trauma. When Project Hope commits to support a disaster, man-made or natural, they deliver- not just in that acute moment, but far after the news story has moved on. This is one of the many elements that make Project Hope different.
Lastly, I have learned so much from the selfless leaders of Project Hope. CEO Rabih Torbay sets the standard high for prioritization, transparency and personal commitment to the mission of Project Hope.
I am incredibly proud to be a small part of the massive good this organization is doing across the globe.
