I began sponsoring a child from Guatemala in 1992 because I was truly impressed with Unbound's commitment to "teaching people to fish" instead of solely providing services, although they do that exceptionally, too, while also adding to the communities in which they serve. When my son was in 7th grade (he's now 30), I took him on Mission Awareness trip, where we met Brenda, who I had been sponsoring from the beginning. It was such an emotional and happy meeting that remains a highlight of my memories. Since then, as my sponsored children have "graduated" from the program, I've continued to sponsor at least two children at a time. I remain impressed with Unbound's model, especially during our chaotic times.
