Review for Lost Paws Rescue of Texas, Carrollton, TX, USA
If you adopt or foster-to-adopt (for 50% of the non-refundable adoption fee) from this organization, be sure to ask for details about the dog. How long has the dog been in the organization's care, has it been returned, what the factual basis for their opinions are for their assessment of the animal, etc. We agreed to foster-to-adopt a dog from this organization after the rescue owner told us the dog was great with her grandkids and super adaptable. We returned the dog a week later because - while the dog was sweet, smart, and only barked to alert or when she felt threatened - she had material issues that were not disclosed or were outright misrepresented. For example, the dog barked and growled at our two young children repeatedly throughout the week (unprovoked - they didn't dare try to play with her or come near her food bowl). She had significant separation anxiety when we would leave the dog alone, even for 30 minutes. We could not crate the dog when we left home or at night because she shredded a dog bed in 45 minutes the one time we tried to put her in her crate. We took home a neglected dog who worked hard to come out of her shell, only to need to return her a week later (because we can't give up our kids). This instability further deepens the dog’s significant separation anxiety, and the organization couldn’t care less. After we returned the dog, it posted the EXACT same profile for the dog, claiming she’s great with kids and super adaptable (and 2 years old when her foster paperwork said she was at least 5). Such tactics set the dog up to fail and to ensure the organization continues to collect non-refundable adoption and foster fees, regardless of the impact on the animal. BEWARE!
