I was fortunate tospent a day inside the sanctuary, volunteering. It was one of the most rewarding days I’ve ever had. Hard work, but every drop of sweat was worth gold. This sanctuary is truly about the care and full lives of each elephant. It’s not open to the public for that reason…to allow these magnificent animals peace and dignity in an environment free of being on display. The employees who work there caring for the elephants, respect and protect both the elephants and their habitat, while striving to educate the public. The Elephant Sanctuary is, in my opinion, the best sanctuary in the country, and should be the model for all animal sanctuaries.
