I'm not a birder, but I have been a Raptor Trust supporter for decades. Birds don't have a lot of political clout or financial resources. The Trust has taken care of them because it's the right thing to do. Don't let the "Raptor" part of the name confuse you. They take in anything with feathers. And it isn't cheap. Feeding hundreds of birds with different dietary preferences and providing medical care (kudos to the veterinary professionals who volunteer their services) and operating and recovery rooms is expensive. The Trust needs donations to provide all this and educational programs.
