Review for Minnie’s Food Pantry, Plano, TX, USA
When was the last time you can honestly say YOU changed someone's life? In the case of Minnie's Food Pantry - this is no cliche - flat out, lives are changed everyday. This is the mission, a passion, a life-purpose for Cheryl "Action" Jackson and everyone involved in the organization.
Minnie's Food Pantry is so much more than a food pantry - Minnie's is a MOVEMENT. Families struggling with basic human needs and desperate to feed their children and themselves may COME to Minnie's for food - but they walk away FULL of so much more than food. Clients are treated with dignity and get Red Carpet Treatment. The love, energy and support is overwhelming. Minnie's impact extends beyond serving food to the hungry and homeless - it changes everyone involved.
We wanted to teach our three little boys the value of volunteering and service, so we volunteered at Thanksgiving and - and the course of our family has been changed. Can you imagine what many kids consider a chore - volunteering - our little boys ASK over and over, 'When can we go to Minnie's again??' 'When can we help again?" "When will we be able to make more boxes?' A continuing chorus of "Can I stack the beans this time, I want to help with pulling food, I want to work the line or separate items.' Minnie's Food Pantry is now part of the fabric of our family, we will continue serving and offering ourselves. We see it firsthand - what a difference this makes to so many. The question isn't why would you help - it truly is, why WOULDN'T you help? I challenge you to give your donations, your time, your hands and further this cause.
Cheryl "Action" Jackson, Momma Minnie, and their entire family represent Minnie's Food Pantry. Cheryl, Erica and all the staff are top-notch! The volunteers are warm, loving and supportive! Once you go through the doors of Minnie's - whether seeking food or comfort - or if you are offering your time or money - you may be giving - but what you get is so much more!!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
I have seen the results at Minnie's firsthand through the lives of those they serve. Our family has forever been changed by our experience with Minnie's as well. We helped several times - and our three little boys absolutely LOVE volunteering at Minnie's! Hunger starves more than bodies, it breaks lives down; Minnie's feeds bodies and spirits and builds people up! You can make a difference - it's The power of one - one person, one family, one box of food - the power to change is real at Minnie's.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
The most important change Minnie's Food Pantry needs is more financial support! Think about it! If they've been able to do as much so far on such limited funding - can you IMAGINE what impact they could have with more financial backing? I would increase the amount of funding and partnerships for monetary support. This should be nationwide - and solid sources of funding are crucial!
