Review for Guardian Angels For Soldier's Pet, Gatesville, TX, USA
I am a nurse and worked for 34 years in ICU, ED and taught eldercare. And learned early on that pets are a very important part of wellness, and coping, and families. I remember with tears the day we brought an elderly spaniel up the back stairs to lie beside his elderly human for one final time. And that dog knew he was saying goodbye. Last year, as I started retirement paperwork, I read an article in our local paper about GASP. And my heart thumped as I realized, I could do this. That I truly, really, wanted to do this. I could apply and foster a pet for our service personnel. My son in law, and nephew are both in the Airforce. By doing this, I could help pay back a small part of what our service folks are doing for us. The application and screening process reassured me that GASP is truly committed to the goal of fostering in a very professional way. I believe that this organization is worthy of our continued support. I am impressed by the comprehensive backround information that is provided to me in every email request for a foster home. And grateful for their prompt communication. And especially thankful that an organization such as this, exists.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
being comforted by knowing that, one pet at a time, through this organization, a family can stay together.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
try to link animal shelters and veterinarians to local VA support organizations to help provide more foster homes, in a more widely publicized way.
