It was the first time I was exposed to working with children in need of care and protection. It provided me with the space where I could see the different roles that a social worker can take up which was extremely given I am a social worker in training. It provided me with the opportunity to apply the principles of the child-centric rights-based social work practice where I worked towards empowering the children, helping them acquire skills and encouraging them to work towards their well-being. In the workspace, I was treated as a professional and the organization trusted me a lot which boosted my confidence.
