I would like to divide my comments about MARR into three sections: Personal, Family, and Patient.

Personal - I have to confess that prior to my brother entering MARR I had given up any hope of him ever living a sober meaningful life. His drug dependency was ruining his life and everyone he came in contact with. It was a long winding road that he traveled before he found MARR. This program has reminded me that we should never give up on someone we love and care about, even during the darkest times there is still hope. I am grateful to the MARR program for the miracle they have worked on my brother. I have rediscovered him since he has been sober and realized what a wonderful, kind, and loving person he really is.

Family - not unlike many families who have a drug dependent family members, my brother's addiction took a toll on everyone in our family. I have two older sisters, in addition to my younger brother who was in the MARR program. While all of us were doing our best to deal with my brother's drug addiction, we all had different ideas of how that goal should be accomplished. Our differences caused friction and division within our family. Despite all of us having my brother's best interest in mind, we just could not find the help he needed to become sober. MARR was a true God Send. Even though I was skeptical of the outcome, based on prior programs that didn't work, I was anxious for my brother to enroll since I felt like at that time he had hit "rock bottom" and perhaps was in the frame of mind to finally admit his addiction and seek help. MARR not only treats the patient, it treats the patients family as well. It is truly an outreach program that has far reaching effects far beyond just the patient. MARR brought our family peace of mind knowing my brother was in a closely monitored, christian based program that would hold him accountable in a structured environment. We, as a family, finally came together knowing, regardless of the outcome, we had found the best program for our brother's problem.

Patient - the most important mission of MARR, of course, is the sobriety of it's patients. My brother has not only been sober since completing the MARR program, he now has dedicated his life to helping others with addiction problems. MARR helped him stay sober and bring meaning into his life, gave him HOPE that tomorrow was worth living for and for the first time in his adult life, gave him a future he is excited about. His transformation has been remarkable and just as his addiction divided our family, his sobriety has brought us all back together. It is a wonderful feeling and I know I speak for my sisters when I say that thanks to MARR we not only have our brother back, he has his life back.
